I strive to create paintings that capture both my sensory and emotional experience of natural places, merging of the carefully observed physical landscape with my own harder to pin down emotional landscape. The title Monstrose Crested references a genetic defect in succulents and cacti that causes beautifully twisting and distorted growth patterns.
