Appalachian Spring

To be native to a place we must learn to speak its language. — Robin Wall Kimmerer

In 2021 I moved from Los Angeles into a small house in the woods of the Appalachian Mountains. My first spring I spent each morning walking up and down my road, noticing the changes in the land and its many inhabitants. Appalachian Spring documents many of the magical encounters I had with local plants and animals during those walks. The volvelle (or spinner) was entirely letterpress printed at Penland School of Craft..
