Designed for the Do Anything show at Double Break in San Diego, this artist book creates a narrative about the experience of letterpress printing through original letterpress prints and excerpts from old Vandercok manuals.
Many of the prints examine the textural similarities between skin and wood type. The original source material was created on and around a Vandercook letterpress— using the type shop as my playground I worked intuitively, developing new printmaking methods.
To create the zine, I gathered all the source material and started xeroxing various pieces, enlarging, cutting up, and collaging as I went. The finished limited edition series was printed entirely on a Xerox copier and bound with a translucent vellum cover.
