 Looking for a monthly project to improve my typesetting skills, I stumbled across The Measure, a new competition in book design. Each month participants were tasked with setting a single chapter from a chosen book at a specified page size.

 The inaugural challenge required participants to typeset the first chapter of Bram Stoker's  Dracula . I won and was given the opportunity to select the next month's book and judge the entries.

 I selected a chapter from  The Love Affairs of a Bibliomaniac , an eccentric volume published in 1896. A large and squarish page size required participants to consider multiple columns.
