Hidden Gestures
Hidden Gestures is a collection of drawings that reveal the unseen gestures of designers in a digital design process. Designers agreed to use a mouse outfitted with a No. 2 pencil and as they interacted with virtual elements on screen, their movements were recorded as physical marks on paper.
Distinct marks poetically suggest various actions, from scrubbing through video to manipulating bezier points. Each drawing exists as a record of a small performance.
Through physical artifacts, the work brings attention to the involvement of the body in digital design and highlights the beauty inherent in these banal gestures.
